Western Broward/Palm Beach Connector PD&E Study

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study involves evaluating alternatives within the study area that meet transportation objectives and minimize impacts to the environment. A corridor study will be conducted to evaluate north-south alternative corridors to meet future traffic demands in northwest Broward and southwest Palm Beach Counties. It is noted that within the project limits, University Drive exists from south of Sawgrass Expressway to just north of Holmberg Road in Broward County. In Palm Beach County, Glades Road curves to the south to become University Drive. University Drive does not exist from north of Holmberg Road to Palmetto Park Road. University Drive within the project limits, is located in the cities of Coral Springs and Parkland and unincorporated areas of Broward and Palm Beach Counties, Florida. The corridor study will evaluate a "no-build" alternative, alternatives that extend all or portions of University Drive, and alternatives that utilize other north-south roads (i.e., both planned and existing).

Other improvements will include sidewalks and bicycle accommodations, modifications to the existing stormwater management system to provide water quality and quantity treatment, and intersection/operations improvements. In addition, for those alternatives that cross over the Hillsboro Canal, a bridge will be evaluated.
